Regulations

The 2023 Saint Louis Super Swiss will be a 9 round tournament that will be paired using the Swiss System. If the foreign flag requirement is met, players will be eligible to earn norms.

Eligible participants: 2200 + FIDE USA rated player or 2000+ Foreign FIDE rated player

1. Prompt Arrival: Players are expected to arrive promptly for their games. Players more than 30 minutes late for a round shall forfeit that round.

2. Draws: Players may agree to a draw after Move 1

3. No Cell Phones: No cell phones or other electronic devices shall be allowed in the tournament area. A violation involving a cell phone or other electronic device that emits any noise during a game shall result in forfeiture of that game and expulsion from tournament.

4. Time Control: Game in 90 minutes with a 30 second increment from move one.

5. Notation: Due to the 30 second increment, Players are required to maintain an accurate and legible score sheet at all times during all games, and are required to keep their notation up-to-date.

6. Byes: Players may take up to two half point byes if requested before Round 5. Even if a player has requested or taken a half-point bye(s), a player is still subject to receiving a full-point bye in any round.

7. Chief Arbiter Discretion: In the event of an unexpected occurrence, the Chief Arbiter reserves the right to make all decisions in conjunction with or on behalf of the CHESS CLUB.

8. In the event of a tie for any place in the tournament, there shall be no tiebreak. Prize money shall be divided equally among all tied players.
