Susanna Ulrich

Susanna Ulrich was introduced to chess at a young age by her three siblings, all of whom have played competitively. She was immediately drawn to the complicated logic of the chessboard and played in her first tournament at the age of 5. In 2014, Susanna represented her home state of Wisconsin in the prestigious National Girls’ Tournament of Champions, and she became the #1 ranked female in Wisconsin in 2019. Susanna has also competed internationally, traveling abroad for her first time in the 2020 Roquetas de Mar Open in Spain. In 2021, she was invited to compete in the U.S. Junior Girls’ Invitational. Susanna is excited for the challenge of competing against other girls of her age, and has learned about the tournament from her older sister Rachel, who competed in 2017. Outside chess, Susanna is studying computer science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and will graduate next year.
