Carissa Yip
Carissa Yip is an international master originally from Andover, Massachusetts. She is currently ranked #2 among U.S. girls under 21 and is the fourth highest-rated 19-year-old in the country. Yip’s tournament achievements include winning the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship three times (2018, 2019, 2020), as well as the 2021 U.S. Women’s Championship. Yip also set records for being the youngest American woman to achieve the titles of Expert, National Master, and International Master. As of June 2023, Carissa was ranked #8 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Alice Lee
Alice Lee is an international-master elect originally from Minnesota. She is currently ranked #1 among U.S. Girls under 21 and is the third highest-rated 13-year-old in the country. Lee is a three-time gold medalist at the World Youth Championships, winning the Girls’ U10 section in 2019 and then back-to-back titles in the 2020-2021 Girls’ U12. Recently Alice earned her final IM norm, making her the youngest American woman ever to do so. As of June 2023, Alice was ranked #6 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Ruiyang Yan
Ruiyang Yan is a FIDE master originally from Northern California. She is currently ranked #4 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #10 for age 16 overall. Yan’s tournament achievements include winning the 2021 Ruth Haring National Tournament, as well as finishing third in the 2021 U.S. Girls’ Junior, followed by second in the 2022 U.S. Girls’ Junior. As of June 2023, Ruiyang was ranked #33 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Rochelle Wu
Rochelle Wu is a women’s grandmaster originally from Northern California. She is currently ranked #5 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #6 for age 17 overall. Wu’s tournament achievements include winning gold at the 2016 Girls U10 World Cadet Championship, as well as finishing first in the 2017 National Girls Tournament of Champions and the 2018 North American Junior Girls Championship. As of June 2023, Rochelle was ranked #19 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Zoey Tang
Zoey Tang is a FIDE master originally from Portland, Oregon. She is currently ranked #9 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #12 for age 15 overall. Tang’s tournament achievements include winning the Girls U14 North American Youth Chess Championship, tying for second place in the 2019 SPF Girls Invitational, and tying for first in the 2021 National Women’s Open. As of June 2023, Zoey was ranked #15 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Iris Mou
Iris Mou is a women’s International master originally from New York City, New York. She is currently ranked #10 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #13 for age 14 overall. Mou’s tournament achievements include winning the 2018 Girls U10 Pan-American Youth Championship as well as the 2022 KCF All-Girls National Chess Championship. As of June 2023, Iris was ranked #95 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Kelsey Liu
Kelsey Liu is a national master originally from Massachusetts. She is currently ranked #13 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #16 for age 14 overall. Liu’s tournament achievements include winning the 2023 Massachusetts Girls Championship.
Gracy Prasanna
Gracy Prasanna is a women’s FIDE master originally from Pennsylvania. She is currently ranked #16 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #34 for age 17 overall. Prasanna’s tournament achievements include winning a number of scholastic events, as well as earning her National Master title in September 2021.
Rose Atwell
Rose Atwell is a national master originally from Southern California. She is currently ranked #8 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #12 for age 14 overall. Atwell’s tournament achievements include beating her first GM in April 2023 at the Larry Evans Memorial. As of June 2023, Rose was ranked #38 on the FIDE Top 100 Girls list.
Shreya Mangalam
Shreya Mangalam is a women’s candidate master originally from Illinois. She is currently ranked #28 among U.S. Girls under 21 and #6 for Girls age 20. Mangalam is a sophmore at Washington University in Saint Louis, where is majoring in genomics & computational biology.
